Answer: PSoC 3 has eight digital clock dividers and four analog clock dividers. When a Clock component is dragged into the design and "Clock Type" is set to "New", depending on whether the clock is used for a digital or analog peripheral, PSoC creator will use a digital or analog clock divider. So, if the Clock Type is set to New, we can have eight digital Clock components and four analog Clock components.
When a Clock component is placed in the design, it can be used to drive any number of analog or digital resources. For example, in the diagram below a 1MHz clock is connected to a Counter and a PWM.
Similarly, when the Clock component is placed in the design and the Clock Type is selected as "Existing", this component does not consume any clock divider, but will connect to an existing Clock divider.
